Module 3:
Exercises to sharpen your wit.

Nothing is achieved without practice and application.

Exercise One: Analyze and switch your favorite jokes.

Why?

You will learn how to craft great jokes but also it will help to impress on, your mind the various techniques and concepts we have discussed so far. We have listed in the sample section some of our favorites, which you can use.

If you want to know why a joke is funny,

Ask yourself what pain and what truth is it attempting to express!

The vast majority of humor moves from positive idea to negative idea, either completely or by degrees. There is a fear and a sense of darkness in most humor.

When reconstructing jokes i.e. creating new humor from the elements of another joke, keep the following points in mind.

  •  Switch the set-up line

  •  Switch the punch line.

  • Change the individual or the category of people the joke is aimed at.

Maybe personalize it for a specific geographical region or a topical situation.

? Add to the joke premise (what the joke is all about, what pain or truth is it expressing).

Maybe switch the premise to another situation, character and location
